Membership Obligations

For many new members participation in our club is different from other youth sports activities, because it requires a high level of commitment from both parents and children.

Participant Commitment

While important family obligations and schoolwork always come first, both players and cheerleaders are expected to attend all practices and games. All prior commitments should be taken into consideration before registering with the club.


Adult Commitment

As indicated on the membership application, each family is required to donate their time in service to the club. Most adults will be working at the concession stand during home games or on the sideline crew. You are expected to complete 4 to 6 slots of service time.
However, if your circumstances do not allow you to donate your time, we provide the option of paying $150.00. We discourage this and hope it's used only as a last resort.
Please understand that your membership, and therefore, your child's participation in club activities, is contingent upon your participation as an adult volunteer and your efforts to abide by the league's code of conduct.
As the primary member, you are obligated to attend all parent meetings, show up when scheduled to work, and if asked, be willing to assist whenever possible.


2008 Membership Fees

Tackle Player or Cheerleader: $150.00 TOTAL (This includes $100 Registration Fee and $50 Fundraising)
Flag Player or Cheerleaders: $100.00 TOTAL (This includes $50 Registration Fee and $50 Fundraising)

A non-refundable $50.00 registration fee is required for each child participating.

Cheerleaders -entering grades 1 thru 9 for Fall, 2008 (No weight restrictions apply.)
Players -ages 6 thru 14 as of August 1, 2008 (With weight requirements listed below.)

*5 year-olds may register for Flag Football as long as they are in 1st grade for the 2008 season.
**8 year-olds may register for Flag Football if the player remains 8 years old for the DURATION of the 2008 season and chooses to participate in Flag.

Eligibility & Registration

A participant cannot begin practice with a squad until they have "signed up." To register, the participant's parent or guardian must complete a standard AYFCL participant contract form provided by the League.

Residence
In general, they must live in the area allocated to the organization, as determined by school district boundaries. A player may participate with an AYFCL organization outside their area only if one or more of the following requirements are met:

-They have previously played with that specific organization in the previous year.
-They have siblings who are members of that specific organization.
-They are a child of a coach or board member of that organization.
-They attend school in the district of that specific organization.
-Any organization may register participants from outside their allocated area, in which no other AYFCL organization is located.

Birth Certificate
A legible photocopy of the participant's birth certificate must be collected and attached to the contract. If a copy of a birth certificate appears to have been tampered with, a replacement must be provided. No original copies of a birth certificate will be accepted.

Parental Consent
One parent or guardian must be present for the registration of each participant. A parent or legal guardian must sign the parental consent section of the AYFCL participant contract.

Participant Agreement
All potential participants must sign the participant agreement section of the AYFCL contract that includes, but is not limited to, maintaining a "C" average in school, being respectful to adults, and having respect for private property.

Medical Certificate
A written statement, signed by a qualified physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse that indicates that the prospective participant, is physically fit to participate in tackle football, flag football, or cheerleading.
This form must be dated and stamped with the physician's address and telephone number. This medical certificate must be dated no earlier than August 1st of the previous year. Under NO circumstances will a participant be able to participate in a practice or game without the necessary medical certificate.

Photograph
A passport type photograph showing head and shoulders only (2" by 2") must be attached to the contract and must be updated every year.

Fees
Each participant will pay all required fees as required by their organization.

Registration
Participant registration may begin at the will of the member organization. However, registration will end on the day before the first official game of that playing season. Individual organizations may set an earlier cut-off date for registration.

Squad Assignment
All participants must be weighed at the time of registration and assigned to their appropriate squad based on their age and weight pursuant to the table shown above.
The participant's age as of August 1st of the current year will determine the squad they are eligible to participate on.
If a participant is ten (10) pounds over the weight limit for their age group at the time of registration, they must be moved up to the next higher squad or not be allowed to register. (Except for A squad.)
Lightweight players must be at or below their maximum classification weight at the time of League Certification.
These age & weight classifications are absolute. The AYFCL will not issue any variances for any reason.
If a player is cut from a modified football program, the player may join an AYFCL organization only if the participant has registered and has been certified with the AYFCL before September 1st.
Under NO circumstances may a player participate in both a school sponsored football program and the AYFCL.
